NOTICE TO STUDENTS – Keeping electric vehicles in the student room and other pavilion premises

We hereby inform student residents of SCZG student dormitories that keeping electric vehicles in student rooms and other pavilion areas is strictly prohibited and that violation of this provision constitutes a serious disciplinary offence.

Keeping an electric vehicle in a room can be risky for several reasons:

• Battery risks: Electric vehicles typically use lithium-ion batteries, which can pose a hazard if improperly used or stored. If the battery is damaged, it may overheat, leak or even catch fire. In an enclosed space such as a room, this could have serious consequences.
• Ventilation: If the battery overheats or is damaged, harmful gases may be released. In a poorly ventilated room, this can pose a health risk.
• Space: An electric vehicle can take up a considerable amount of space in a room, which can hinder movement, increase the risk of falls, damage inventory, reduce space for work or rest, and create an untidy environment. In an emergency, the vehicle may obstruct movement along evacuation routes.
• Dirt and moisture: An electric vehicle can bring dirt, mud or moisture into the room, which can lead to damage to flooring or inventory, as well as other damage when bringing it in and out of the pavilion.
• Security: In student dormitories, where rooms are close to one another, there is a greater risk that an electric vehicle may attract unwanted attention, and keeping one in a room may lead to unpleasant situations.

For the reasons stated above, keeping or charging an electric vehicle in a student room and other pavilion areas is not permitted, as regulated in several places by the Rules on Dormitory Order and Conditions of Student dormitory in the Student dormitories of the University of Zagreb Student Centre.
